Hi, My name is Fatima Hasan, and welcome to my blog! I jus recently turned 23 years old and have decided to start blogging. A lot of my friends tell me things usually only happen to me and I am known to pertain random knowledge about subjects that you wouldn’t possibly believe. For today’s blog, I would like to share a story about my best friend’s birthday…

Last Friday, For my best friend’s birthday I decided to take her on a cruise across the SF Bay, it was a lunch cruise where you went all over the bay and saw Alcatraz. The boarding time was 11:00AM, so we left my house at 9:30AM since we live an hour away from San Francisco. We also had to take the bart to SF from a city called Milbrae (which is a really nice bart station), so we arrive in Milbrae and are on the bart. I take out my phone to see what time it is, and end up dropping my phone because I am in so much shock. It took us an hour to get to Milbrae which is like a 40 miute drive from my house. The time is 10:45AM and we still need to reach the city before 11:30AM because that is the time the boat departs from the Pier. In my head i’m like krap we are SOOOO not going to make it and my friend is like its ok Fatima, its ok we’ll make it. So finally the bart starts moving and we are trying to find the phone number for cruise line so that wasy we can find out if we can get a refund or go on a later boat, but we keep on losing phone service since we are going underground, but finally we get the number and the girl on the phone tells us that we will not get a refund or an exchange and the boat is boarding right now. I am soo effin psst, like I dont understand how the time became so late even though we left the house really early.

The next time the bart stops there is a random ATT ad outside the BART that says, I always love happy endings. My friend looks at me and says, “See look it will workout.”, and I’m like sure it will. I start praying that we will make it and I make a plan for when we depart the BART. I tell her that we are going to bolt out of the BART and are going to run to the pier with all of our might. So finally we reach the Embarcadero stop. I am wearing a peacoat and lunging my friend’s purse. I run out of the BART and take the stairs, that is quite a workout and then I stop. I am so out of breath and my friend is right behind me. We are on Embarcadero and then I start walking really fast, but then I tell myself if I don’t run there is no way im going to make it since the time is 11:28AM right now. So I jump off the little cliff in the Embarcadero Park and run to Pier 3…I run the whole way and make it to the gate and explain the situation to the sailor, while huffin and puffin. I need AIR!!! He is a nice man and tells us that we can board, and my friend comes and we end up going on the cruise. It was an interesting way to get to the boat.

The cruise itself was AWESOME! i found a coupon online, so I got a discount, and I highly recommend taking this cruise. It is called the Alcatraz Discovery Cruise by Hornblower Cruises and it is really nice.
